Are They More Mystery Train Trend-setters or More Retro 50's Kitsch Kettle Types?

The Name is Wilson. Melissa Wilson; Art Director.

There you have it, folks. Merely weeks before our shoot Melissa finally stepped up from Location Manager to Art Director. Let me count how many art directors have passed through this project... Without exaggeration, it'd be safe to say something like 12.

It is difficult to find good help for no pay. One of the qualities that made us decide on Melissa was her enthusiasm and energy; of which she has loads. What I particularly like as well is her ability to weave narrative into the space; fabricating a history and fleshing out the characters' background. Does Luma have any design sense when it comes to furniture? Do they have a retro 50's kitsch kettle or a £1 Shop boiler? Only Melissa can tell!

I think Luma's design sense should be felt rather than seen. The art director can surely make bland tesco value appliances and one pound shop plastics look great on screen. Luma is a student after all, she can't afford kettles from habitat. Only through showing her way of personalizing the objects that surrond her can we feel the intimacy of her home and consequently her relation with dan.

Absolutely. I never thought of Luma as a Habitat girl anyway. But what kind of paraphenilia does she have? As it goes she currently brandishes a giant tome of Arabic cooking clearly in her library. I don't think her Palestinian roots need to be overtly expressed as I rarely have a flag of Lebanon draped over my wall when I move. Plus, she is a girl trying to escape her background in a sense, and wants to fully embrace London as a surrogate home. So I imagine that she'd have more London stuff around her room (perhaps street signs or posters about events and parties) than Palestinian stuff.

On the other hand, we have Dan. Dan's definitely into his jazz, but we also don't want to resort to the studenty poster. Posters are so teeny-bopper. What else other than stacks of records and the odd keyboard could he have around?
